120 hp to 250 hp

hey i have a 17ft bowrider currently equiped with a 2.5l 120 hp mercrusier, i also have acsess to a 5.7l 250 hp mercrusier so naturally im thinking about a power upgrade.
so im wondering if anyone else has tryed this and if there would be major issues

What kind of boat, and what is it rated for? I would think doubling you power would probably exceed the design of your hull.... not good!

umm think that is a very very bad idea. Maybe 120 to a 150, but 250 is insane on a 17ft bowrider unless it is designed for it!!!

However, if you do it please waterproof camera and tie a float to it so we can see the maiden voyage. ;)

Ayuh,.... It'll take a Pulleys to Prop swap to do it, 'n it'll be a handful when completed...

proberly going to need a bigger fuel tank and forgeting the extra power won't the motor weight alot more. be the first boat fitted with wheely pods stuck on the back....lol
