First day out of storage charge battery , wont turn over fast enough to start check bat good replace starter same thing , I was told to clean out cylinders and try again / Did that and it started right uo , Great next day try to start same thing , I was told that it was building crank case pressure . Clean all the electrical connections.This includes the battery connections and all connections at the motor.

Do a compression test. Post results.

Spark test? Pull plugs and compare.

Could the fuel return system be causing the problem ? Clean out cylinders . What do the hoses that go from cylinder s to the crank case do ?

Cuold there be a build up of gas fumes in the crank causing the slow turn over ?

The fuel return system really doesn't get into or affect the starting.
​Build up of gas fumes??, no such animal.Or I've never heard of that in an outboard??
Do the compression test and if that's ok.
Pull all the plugs check to see if they are burning right and see if it turns over then.
If you use the key to turn the motor over then the plugs need to be grounded.

Still hard to turn over pull the lower unit and then turn over.

Kinda sounds like a bad battery connection.
Or hydro lock? Any water in the pistons?

How did you "clean out" the cylinders?

With the spark plugs out the motor spins good . I should mention that last fall I fog the engine with old fogging additive could this have plug up reed valves or any thing else . Cleaned out engine with carb cleaner . I I stated motor started then and ran like it always did . Good idle and good responce reved up nice cooling was good . Started several times . next day tried to start and it turned over slow again cleaned out motor again and it started fine . Monday tried again and same crap . I was told there are some check valves on the motor that could be sticking from that old fogging stuff this is causising the gear case to fill up ? I real have no clue what happen to the motor over Winter it was kept in heated storage Battery was charged all winter Battery has been tested I have 2 battery . Flash light check in cylinders looks good no moisture visible on plugs . It just keeps turning over slow after sitting over night , I leave battery charger on . I also relpaced starter with a new one . ???????? Hydro lock is water in the cylinder correct . There is a cellinoid on the side of motor with gas lines goin to it and what looks like a reset button ? If it is some thing simple I would like to fix my self .If not I guess I will have to take in for repair . If I could diognose it would same a mechanic some time .Thanks Pete

Just wondering what you do to clean out the motor?
Did you test your battery's with a load tester, volts don't mean the battery is good, HF has them for 22 bucks.
So the problem is it turns over slow after sitting overnight. If your two batterys load test good, your motor should turn over fast like ours.
Like the guys above, this sounds like a negative battery cable,connection, remove all battery connections make them shinny clean, coat with dielectric grease, tighten them back down with nylon locking washers, never wing nuts.
Where our negative battery cable connected to the block, they tightened it down right over them white painted block, remove any paint where the battery connector touches the block

​Compression ??? Need numbers??
No check valves I've ever seen.
The only connection from the gear case to the head is the drive shaft and no way can they "build up"

"Cleaning out the motor again" what lube, if any? do you use? or how do you clean it out?
