Adjust your idle speed and mixture screws with the aid of a manuel.

Will it start again right after it dies? If not, what is your fuel bulb like at the time? If it is empty, does pumping it up get your engine started right away?
Your timing is adjusted by a locknut/screw linkage at the top of your engine, just under the flywheel. You will need a timing light (preferably an inductive pick-up) to properly perform the operation.
It is quite advisable to get yourself a manual in order to perform anything beyond removing the cover. A Clymer manual will run you around $15 - $20 and will give you a very good understanding of the layout of the engine, easy adjustments, and even troubleshooting tips and flow descriptions.
This forum is great for any questions that the manual doesn't cover or for the weird stuff that sometimes plagues us.

yes,the bulb stays full, and to start it i usually have to bump the idle 1/4 open. and sometimes that floods it so i pull the throttle back and it fires right up. all this started happening when i replaced blown head gasket and cleaned carbs. THANKS Skeer, for your advice.A manual is a good start.

Sounds like your motor is "sneezing" at idle. This is caused by running too lean. You need to turn you idle mixture screws counter clockwise a little, if your carbs have them.

Possibly one carb is not pulling its weight.LEAN. Mixture screws can be from 1/2 to 1+1/2 turns after timing at 30 to 32 degrees. Decarbonize when you can because 145 lbs is obtainable on the used Forces.

Re: 120hp force 94'

a'nutter question . on this motor it has a exhaust snout / tork adjuster(so to speak) located above my prop. it fell off in water,i guess vibration or something. replaced it and applyied lock tite(permanant), fell off again, gettin expensive at $50+ a piece. was wandering if I need this part or not? What might happen with out it? how might it effect it's performance???
