Re: 125 force

I hope you meant you had to run all the external wiring because my answer depends on that.

If you look at the engine wiring harness, you will see from the red terminal a wire goes down to the circuit breaker at the bottom of the terminal mounting plate. A red wire also runs from the bottom of the circuit breaker to the battery cable side of the starter solenoid. THIS is the wire that sends voltage back through the battery cable to charge the battery. When the engine is not running OR if you are using more amperage than the alternator can supply, this wire also supplies power from the battery to the ignition switch through the thick multi-colored multi-wired black cable.

This wire is only about 16 gauge so really, for any significant power needs you should access the battery directly with a fused supply line. This wire was really only meant to supply power for gauges.

The engine alternator only supplies about 7 amps so don't expect to run a stereo with a big amplifier and honking big speakers---'Aint gunna happen.

Re: 125 force

check the first of this forum for stickys about cranking a sleeping motor, it's under repair and maintenance, engine frequently asked questions, by all means do the water pump impeller, lower foot lube change and if you don't know when it was changed last, the fuel pump diaphragm ,hope this helps

First thing to do is buy a Clymer Force Outboard Shop Manual as you will need it to work on this engine.
