125 hp, interesting observation

After repairing loose wiring last week, I'm more that happy with the performance of my engine.. however, today I felt it was just a little bit lower rpms at full throttle than normal. (tach broke, don't know numbers) Now, was it because it was windy/choppy on the river?... anyway, it sorta acted like it was "loading up" with fuel.. just a little "boggy". When I had the throttle buried in neutral, rpms were not up.. it would take a minute or so to "clear everything out"... then it would slowly climb up to rev high, like it should.
Now, while waiting for the rpms to come up in neutral, I happened to "blip" the choke... of course, it nearly died, but when it came back up...wow.. it went straight to what it should be.. scary high rpms.. after that, 0 to 60 throttle response was crisp and fast... i was in a 6 mph zone, couldn't open it up and get on plane... but I Holeshotted it for like 2 seconds or so. I could tell, something got cleared out. Idled about 2oo rpm higher, too

Now, any ideas what it could be? ( Carbs are clean, fuel filter installed, floats set properly, screws 1 1/4 turn out.) But a while back, my sound insulation was deteriorating, particles of it everywhere in there, but not the carbs, or jets. I cleaned them out afterwards.

Could this be those "drains", or some other clogged orifice that was making the motor load up? ( fuel smell heavy when bogging a bit).
Blipping that choke closed at high rpm made a helluva vacuum somewhere else in that engine as well as the carbs...maybe pulling some crap thru a hole or something..... any ideas? Thoughts ?

this is a common trick we use on dirt bike to clear a jet before we take carb apart and clean...it works alot...we cover carb with hand but same principle
