125 hp overheating question

how many times can a motor be overheated and be considered ruined?? ran it a lot last year and it overheated twice, and i took it immediately back to docks and took it home. less than 10 minutes from overheat to docks each time. im changing my impeller, thermostat, temp probe, and found my overheat buzzer unhooked. do i need to tear down the motor to look at the cylinders, or am i safe to run it without doing damage.

Do a compression check and post the results. A leak down test would be even better.
