hello. i am looking to buy a 125 merc from a buddy who lives a bout 3 hours away. he says he has a 125 merc inline 4 cylinder no distributors, it has electronic ignition.<br /><br />he cant find the serial or model number as its all been painted over.<br /><br />anybody have any info as to when merc made the 125 inline 4cyinders? anybody have any info at all? anybody have a pic of one?

Think about this ..... the 1st time you need a part,even a sparkplug,you need the serial number.Merc made 4 cylinder 125 from the 1980's thru now.Maybe do some 'unpainting'.<br /><br />DHP

im personally not worried about this.<br /> I, personally, dont need the serial. its just people who have NO IDEA what they are talking about with their motors who need the serial, or people who have dealers who are EXTREMELY unhelpful.<br /><br />thanks

To my knowledge aside from the early I6 1250 (125HP)(cranshaft rated), Merc didn't make a 125hp again until the I4 1994 (propshaft rated), which carried until 2005 and is now discontinued.

i couldnt find any data for anything pre- 1994 so thats what i was thinking..... thanks again!
