I have a '95 Force 70 Hp.

The rectifier has a small crack in it and some rust in there. I believe that this is causing my tach to not register above 3000 rpms, and, even worse, I'm not convinced that in its present condition, it's charging my battery correctly.

Any advice?

All that said, I'm looking for a replacement. I have located a new one for $100, but, I would like to find a used. My preliminary search on the internet hasn't turned up many leads on used Force parts. If anyone has a reputable used parts dealer in their area that would have, or specializes in Force or Mercury parts, I would greatly appreciate a web address or name and phone number.

Thanks,
Steve
stephenswindell@yahoo.com

Re: 12Footer - - Force question for you

Sorry it took so long for me to log in today..Went fishin.
Try this guy.
http://www.charliesusedparts.com/

If no luck, try ebay/Force;
http://search.ebay.com/search/searc...=1&st=2&SortProperty=MetaEndSort&BasicSearch=

You can try reading the voltage to the batery on 100VAC scale and see if you are getting AC to the battery.If you are, you need to replace it before running it any more (can damage battery, electronics and ignition components if it is emitting higher than normal voltage or AC current.

I'll try my scource in town here tomorrow, but don't hold out much hope, as he is in the process of moving out (sold property for condos).
