sorry if stupid question but im stumped.

2017 glasyron gt185 comes with 12v in glovebox

bought tube and airhead pump, smallest one cause i figure easy store and wasnt in race to pump up tube. blew fuse soon as i turned it on.

its 11.5amp, smallest air pump ive found is 6.5amp.

so i need a 5amp air pump to pump up tube? do i need to rewire the outlet with higher gauge wire and put like 15amp fuse on it?

is 5amp normal for boat 12v? whats ny solution here? i just want to be able to stop boat and blow up tube.

Some 12 volt plugs are actually the low volt, usb plugs at like 2 amps so are you sure it’s a full one? Because those should be 10amps im pretty sure. Might sound silly to ask, but have to tried the pump in say your tow vehicle to make sure it’s not got a ground issue in the plug?

Glastron probably save $2 by installing the 5amp outlet instead of a 10 amp outlet . . .

Maybe you can see what gauge wire was used by removing the outlet for a look at the wiring to see if you could 'upgrade' to a 10 amp outlet.

so spend $11 on a new outlet and about $15 on heavier gauge wire and the $0.20 on a different fuse.

normally the one in the glove box is for charging phones

im kinda aprehensive about wiring stuff especially in boat. italked to dealer and he suggested i can get 12v outlet wth alligator clips and just put on battery i think ill go tht way until i get one installed.
thanks for replies, i was stuck in head i needed to find 5amp pump not the thing was just for phones.
and agree, thnx glastron for foresight like wtf would need air pump in a open bow, just like 100% families have some type of tube.

actually, only about 20% of boaters pull a tube or skiis, 95% have cell phones
