I am wanting to hook a light up on boat...it is a Philips 9011 bulb with 12v 65 Watt bulb....

Can I find a 9011 24v 65 Watt bulb and then just run it off my 24 volt system safe and easy?

If so having a tuff time finding that bulb in 24v any advice be great.

It is for a GOLIGHT project.

Re: 12v vs 24v bulbs

9011 is a 12 volt bulb. You won't find a 9011 24 volt bulb because two different parts cannot have the same part number. How would you like it if your size 36 underware was also sold as size 24 but with a 36 size label. Yup -- uncomfortable. If you want to run the light from your 24 volt system, run it off just one of the two batteries in that system. Be sure to connect it to the first battery in the pair which would be the one with the 24 volt ground wire connected to it. This eliminates any accidental ground issues that might occur if connected to the other battery. If this happens to be a remote control light, remember that the motors in this light are also 12 volts so hooking everything up to 24 volts will toast the positioning motors.

Why not wire two of those bulbs in series? Total = 24 volts. Current draw stays at 65 watts.
