130 Yamaha floats; less is more right?

I have asked this question before but never got a reply so am trying again. I have a 1989 Yamaha 130 ETF. It runs perfectly but after about 20 hours or so plug #2 will foul. Upon advice here I replaced the fuel pump diaphrams and cleaned carbs. While doing so I discovered all 4 floats were set at .75". I reset them to the specified .63". It would seem to me that with the floats sitting higher the carbs will run richer not leaner making the situation possibly worse. Any thoughts? I am about to haul the boat to the lake where it will spend the summer in the water. I really would like to sort this out before then. Thanks.

.63 plus or minus .050 is the correct setting. the pilot air screws set 7\8ths out from lightly seated.
DO NOT tweak the pilot screws that spec is plus or minus 1\8th.
if it wont run with that setting something is still clogged.
