130 Yamaha WOT sweet spot?

Im putting a 2001 yamaha 130hp V4 on my 17' Anacapri cc. What is the ideal wot rpm to turn this motor?

In my experience, most of the time you want to prop for the high end of the rpm range, which I see is listed at 5000-6000. But I have been told that the v4s only like to run about 5500... thought i would try to get more opinions

The boat has a pretty good V to the hull, but is fairly light, under 2000lbs for sure. The boat is rated 130hp max, and the previous owner says it did 43-44mph with a 115hp evinrude. Im guessing a 13.5 x 19p would be a good place to start?

I couldn't find the rpm the 130 is developed at. I did find in the official specs that the rpm range is 5500-6000.
I Think propping at 5500 would obviously put you at the bottom of the rating and the motor would drop out of the range as you added weight.I think if you propped for 6000 it would give the best hole shot and ability to push a load but maybe not the best speed.
A 19" does seem like a good starting point.

My source(s) indicate 5000-6000 rpm range for your 2001 130 Yamaha 2 stroke.

The same rules apply to the Yamaha as they do with any other outboard motor. Prop to the high end of the rpm range with a light load so as to not labor the motor when you take a couple of pals along.

I agree that a 19 pitch would be a good starting point. Typically, the HP is rated at an rpm that is in the middle of the rpm range. This motor is 130 HP @ 5500 rpm. That would mean the over all performance is optimized between 5500-6000 rpm at WOT.

I suggest you start with an inexpensive aluminum prop like a Solas Rubex 3. I doubt that you'll need to adjust(if at all) more than one pitch size from there; and you can use it as a spare if you decide to go big bucks for SS prop.

Yamaha owner manuals are available for down load if you don't have one.

Sounds good guys, thanks! Ill shoot for somewhere between 5500 and 6000 with a light load. There is a local prop shop that will let me try out a prop and return it for a different pitch, so no worries on that. Definitely going stainless.

I agree with all of the above. So you have 3 for 3....what's that in batting average, 1000? I don't know I don't watch baseball. Grin.
