Engine starts every time when it is cold, but when I run it full power for long durations, then shut it down, it will not start. I have to wait for an hour or more before it will start again. Please help.
Thanks,
Stooch

Its heat soak, remove the engine cover to allow it to cool down and see if it starts any sooner. That will confirm it.

Let the engine idle for a minute before shutting it down after a hot run and pump the bulb firm to fill the bowls with cold fuel.

Thanks jonesg I'll try what you suggest.
Do you know part is failing and can it be repaired?

When you run for an hour, then stop, do you tilt the engine up or does it stay down before trying to restart? Check the spark plugs are they wet or dry when it fails to restart?

Probably the stator. Charge coils on it are bad. "Charge" refers in this case to charging the power pack, not the battery. They will supply enough juice to keep it running, but after you shut it off there isn't enough RPM from the cranking to put out enough voltage to charge the power pack.

EDIT: OR..you didn't say what year we are working on here, but if it happens to have the automatic warm-up choke, it may be choking when it shouldn't. There is a service bulletin on rewiring the choke to eliminate that problem.
