135 hp weight issue

my boat is a 1975 alummium starcraft back then it was rated at 140Hp but are the in-line 6's the same weight as the 1990 v6 and will my boat handle this engine it is a 1990 135HP Black Max Thanks Bob

The inline sixes are about a hundred pounds lighter than the V6. However, other brand motors were heavier than the inlines, in those days, so it is likely the boat was build to handle the heavier motors and will handle that V6 just fine.

I have 200hp v6 on my '80 18' ss and it works great. With a 370# balast bag full and 37gal of fuel. She will still float in 12'' of water. I ran the crap out of it all summer with no sign of stress on the hull.
