First of all we like to run on the water..Most times Id rather drive than fish.

My 2000 Lund Adventure 1800 has a 2000 135 Optimax. Runs great, just slow (to me) at 50 mph. The boat is rated for a 175. Ive been thinking about trading in the 135 for a 175.. HOWEVER.............. Dont know how much gain I would get from a 175. Opinions please....

Anyone know if it is realistic to expect to gain another 15 mph ?

Cost effective ?

If it aint broke dont fix it is comming to mind...

I'll put my .02 in.............

Going up to the 175 will do 2 things for you. It gives you 40 more HP and gives you the opportunity to Prop UP and still maintain your holeshot!!! Now is the time to do it if you can afford it. Economy down means the dealerships are willing to make deals to keep product moving. It gets them a good used motor for those that can't afford new and it gives them an opportunity to make another lifelong customer out of you.......

Do it! :D

If you're going new, I'd go with a E-Tec hands down over an Opti even thought the 2010 Opti's seem vastly improved.

If you're going used, watch out. Used Opti's are often just someone elses problem child. Don't make it your's, look for a E-Tec or a Yami.

Well the 135 is a 2.1 ratio and the 175 is a 1.87 ratio. If you can turn 5800 on a 23 pitch prop that will put you at the 60 mph range...:D
