Re: 14' aluminum V casting decks

Sweet. Let us know if this affects the stability of your boat. I'm middle-aged and a Big Ole Boy, so I would be leery of standing that high in a V-hull. I'm lucky though, the last owner of my 14-foot tinny V-hull built removable floors to go between the seats, made of tonge-and-groove pine. Keeps you lower in the boat but allows you to stand or put up a camp chair for comfort..much more comfortable than the bench seats or those little swivel chairs. Nice thing is you can always pull them out for cleaning, etc. Like your work, nice boat. What kinda outboard are you pushing it with?

Re: 14' aluminum V casting decks

im using a 15 hp gamefisher 1996 model that is still in the break in period. I weigh 155 and i have taken it out with the deck there but not bolted down and there is plenty of stability. the gamefisher has about another 2 gallons of 25:1 gas to run through before i can use 50:1. i have noticed though that the more weight in the back the more stable it is. there are no leaks in the boat what so ever and i have heard its bad to cut the tank seats out but after i build the back deck which will be lower than the front by about half the height, i think im cutting out the middle and just leveling the floor there. But only after i have some aluminum supports added to the middle of the boat. thanks for your input!!

I really don't want to rain on your parade at all so please don't take this the wrong way, but.....

taking it out with the deck on, and actually being seated on a pedastal seat which is on top of the deck is an entirerly different situation. I don;t know how it was condition wise when you tested, but just remember that there are time when some pretty big wake will hit ya.........boat will react very different when you are seated up there regardless of what weight you have in the back.

If it really is stable then I like the work you have done so far.

i normally fish Mcginis pond its 62 acres. Havent seen too much of a tidal wave there and it was 25 mph wind when i tested but i couldent tell cause the pond is wooded and that blocked it all. thats all im using this boat for!!!

i don't usually admit this, but when i did my 1960 Lonestar, i used the $1.96 a can home depot spray paint. less than $25.00 to do inside and out. that was 2 years ago, and is holding up real well. pressure washed, light sanding, and then sprayed. if you would like pictures email me at 'tashasdaddy@comcast, net'
