Your not alone, I threw out the snuff can on Monday after chewing Copenhagen since 91. Quit cold turkey, lots gum and sunflower seeds...

Took a 4 hour road trip today and surprisingly,,, I didn't miss it that much. Though I did find my self fumbling through the center console for something that was no longer there.

Best of luck!

But if you save your "smokes money" you will be able to take a vacation then !!
Good Luck and be strong. You will thank yourself for it in the near future.

good luck bud. i am on about month six of no smoking. i used to smoke a pack of cigars a day (not big cigars, little cigarillos, captain blacks). i found the first 2 months to be the toughest. after that its not so bad. ive have broke down once since then but now i dont even enjoy it, almost feel like puking after having one. but i was pretty irritable for those first 2 months. im surprised my girlfriend didnt dump me. haha. good luck.

You WILL do it. Do some other things to take your mind off it as much as you can. Crossword puzzles, reading, jig saw puzzles, post here on iboats, sleep etc. You will get there but keep the will power going and do not give in. Thousands of members here behind you on this.
Don't give in !!!!

I had tried cold turkey and found it difficult. The patch takes the edge off the craving. You will still want a cig but not as bad. I use to smoke 2 1/2 packs a day until I tried the patch. Remind yourself why you quit when the craving gets really bad. Im going on my fourth month nicotine free.
Keep it up and think about all the extra boat money you will have.

One year and 3 weeks for me.

When I had my gall bladder out the surgeon mentioned a "shadow" on my lung. I had 36 hours of waiting for the verdict on what it was.

You can quit now or go through that.

I smoked for 30 years and have been off of them since last Oct., it is still difficult but I am doing it with the help of niccotine gum. It takes the irritable edge off(except when someone bothers me when i'm online:redface:) You can do it! Just stay away from smokers for awhile so your not tempted by the smell. Good luck man, I am with you!

Best of luck, I hope you do it. I despise smoking, both my parents smoked and I used to flush their cigs down the toilet when I was a kid..........that didn't go over too well.

I think ken is on to something here. Put the money you were spending on smokes in a jar. I bet in no time you'd have enough in there to buy yourself something nice like a new fish finder or something. Good luck.

Re: 14 hours without a smoke and counting

Just buying a pack today and afterwards is enough to quit. I've been smoke free for a couple of years now, but my wife is still at it for now. Thanks to the added increase in people quitting has equated to higher tax and now the higher tax is going to rapidly decrease the tax revenue which will cause another hike in taxes causing more to quit. Sorta like a never ending story.

Good luck, hope you do it but it mostly has to be in your mind that you don't need them. I tried all the pill and patches, all they did was make me feel yucky. Just went cold turkey. I will smoke a nice cigar on occasions that are special.
