Last season I had a new powerhead installed on my 1985
140 VRO. The engine has probably 20 hrs on it at best. She basically runs great except for this one quirk- if I don't use the boat for a couple of weeks (2 to be exact) - she will start
right up, I let her run for 2 minutes or so for her to warm up and then leave the dock. Fine at
low speed but if I try to open her up, she will seem like the fuel supply was cut off and and quit. If I pull up the choke lever and crank- she starts right up. Naturally to get her in gear I have to lower the throttle- she'll die out again.
By the 4th or 5th time- she will finally get going with absolutely no problems for the rest of the day. The fuel separator (Racor) was installed last year but only has about 30-35 hrs of use because the boat was basically disabled and out of the water half of last season. I added a
can of Sea Foam after the 10 hr break in period. There is some external rust on the
separator cannister but the plastic bowl doesn't seem to have any water.

Any ideas on what may be causing this. Thanks!
