140 shift and throtle cables

well im hooking up my motor, and when we pulled the motor off the other boat one of the cables wasnt clampt in the provided set groove on the steel casing end, but back on the plastic, i think it was the shift cable, is this normal. Thanks Steve

well it was the throttle, what is the switch for on the shift linkage ? and i need to know if there is any rough settings for the shift adj. i had to install a general morse controller{pulled off the jet boat} and added longer cables than what were on the motor. I'm not looking for the final adj. I've read some of those threads and i have yet to change the lower because of the skeg finn. also swapped out the steering assy. over the weekend, coming together slowly
