I am in the process of rebuilding my mercruiser 3.0 140hp motor. It came out of my 1984 VIP boat. I have been told this is the chevy 2 motor. Of course after breaking the motor down I do see GM stamping all over the place. Can I buy the oil pan, valve cover, and exhaust manifold gaskets from a local auto parts store?

You can buy gaskets sets through the Iboats online shop.
I just bought a set and had them shipped to Australia. Much cheaper then purchasing from the thieving mongrels over here.

Trabich,

My local Napa store has been able to get anything I needed for my 3.0 within a day or so.
They carry Sierra parts.

Good luck!

Re: 140hp mercruiser 3.0 gasket question

Thank you Paul. Do I tell them a mercruiser 3.0 or do I tell them the GM 3.0? I know there was a 128 hp and a 130 hp 4 cylinder. I have the 140 3.0 which I belive is most common isn't it?
