My 89 140 hp Evinrude has an intermittant miss throughout the entire rpm range. most noticable at idle and when taking off and at wot, all though it does not all ways happen. The carbs are clean and rebuit, new spark plugs (QL77JC4). Is it possible that it is a coil or powerpack or under the flywheel ? Any help would be appreciated.

P.S. did do a full link and sync asper factory manual.

Re: 140hp miss

Spitting back, sounding like a mild backfire, usually indicates a carb slow speed restricted jet..... something causing a lean carb scenario. Were they removed and thoroughally cleaned during the overhaul?

Plugs torqued to spec?

Try running at night and inspecting the plug wires for arcing.
