The one I have is ok. I would like to know the omc number or a cross reference for my 1950 Fastwin so I can have a backup.

Go to marineengine.com and look up your motor by year ,hp and mod # and see the part # on the gearcase page.

It wont go back that far.

Your 4438 originally had a 8.5" diameter x 10 pitch 3 blade prop.

Is there a weird spline count or anything I should be aware of?

The 9" diameter x 10 pitch is part number 202813, this was used on the '50 to '52 Fastwin. Not sure of the 8.5" diameter part number off hand.
