15-25 HP motor alternators

I am new to boat motors and am wondering if you can upgrade the stock alternators that come standard on some engines? I am looking for a little more watts and amps. I would like to run a power inverter off of a couple batteries on my pontoon boat. And not have to worry about too much of a drain on them.<br /><br />Thanks<br />Mike

Generally speaking not. Although your specific motor might have an option, most outboard motor charging systems are not all that powerfull. Maybe someone down at the marina has an idea, I'd opt for a small gas powered generator.
