my coworker has a 15 foot grumman runabout its a 1966 model for sale for 150 dollars i plan on buying it but heres the deal . it has no steering wheel on the dash and i guess it was pulley driven cause the pulleys are still hanging in the boat. so i plan on fixing it up alittle and using a tiller steer motor at first i was just wondering how much trouble it is to replace the steering wheel and cables. I cant find any information on a 1966 grumman runabout on the net. it seems to be a nice boat and at 150 dollars with the trailer i dont think i can pass it up.

Sounds like a bargain for $150. Must be worth that much for scrap. :D

Regarding the cable steering, I've used that on various boats years ago but I think these days I'd look at a Teleflex type if I was to do another one . Much more positive.

Actually, it's a breeze to install the "rope" steering again and very inexpensive as well. Most dealers who have beenin business awhile will have the steering cable in stock and it is dirt cheap and strong. As long as all the pulleys and springs are there it would only take about a half hour to ring up and adjust.
