tlakeharley,
Looks like you are making some really good progress. I'm also sorry you had to learn the hard way about grinding and proper clothing.
I don't know your location in NC but their is a supplier in Knoxville, TN that has some great prices on Poly resin. If you are close enough to them, let me know and I can PM you with the Information. They sell resin for $20 buks a gallon. I haven't seen it anywhere for less.
Great work keep it rolling.

Anyone know how much pour in foam it will take to do a 15 ft caravelle tri hull? I saw some kits on US Composites. They were 4lb. kits and 16 lb. kits. If anyone has worked with this and has an idea please help. I'm not quite at that point yet, just trying to think ahead. ;)

Well the grinding is just about done, I should finish tomorrow if it doesnt snow me out. Does anyone know the ratio/recipe to make peanut butter? I would like it to be easily sandable and I want to make about a gallon. I'm gonna bed the stringers with PL Premium, and fillet with peanut butter. Will peanut butter be strong enough to put around the edges where the hull and deck come together?:D

What is the procedure for attaching the Transom to the hull? I'm gonna join the two pieces of 3/4 ply with PL premium, but need to know how to join to the hull. ;)

Slowly, but Surely, We'll GET R DUN!!!!!

Hey tlakeharley,
Great progress, The boat is really coming along nicely.
As for Joining the transom wood to the hull. Several folks just use PL premium and clamp it until it sets then PB around the edges and the glass over it all.
You can also glass it and then clamp it before it sets then follow the same process for the finish.
You can also use PB around the edge of your deck then glass over it also.
I hope this helps.

If I coat the hull side of the transom with resin, will the PL still bond like it's supposed to, or do I need to just use the PL by itself?:)

tlakeharley,
What I did was to coat the wood with resin to seal it let it dry and then used the PL to bond it to the hull, let it dry. Then I glassed it all over and along the side to tie it to the hull.

Thanks Bob, You da Man,...... Well I have.....Yep, "another question" Will the kitty hair stuff or the bondo glass work just as well for filling around the transom, stingers and the hull/deck contact or would I need to make peanut butter? Oh yeah, about the peanut butter, I have read several posts about the components ratios and none of them were clear, as to how much this and that. I want to make about a gallon of easily sandable butter.... That's if the other stuff will no be as good.......:):):)

tlakeharley,
To be honest I have not used the kitty hair material you are talking about. I believe that it is just chopped strand and resin. That being said, If I'm correct then it would work for what we are talking about. What I use for PB is chopped strand glass, wood flour and resin. The exact ratio is somewhat subjective. I just mix the resin add the mekp and then the CS and WF until the mix is thick and like Peanut butter. I'm sure someone else will chime in if I'm off to much.
Good luck and I hope this helps.
