i,ve recently purchased a 15 horse evinrude 1981 model.just curious if there had been any major problems with that paticular year or era of evinrudes.i haven,t had the opportunity to take it out for a spin yet.i,ve finally come to my senses and got rid of my 9.9 force .my only concern is that the evinrude will not get my little 12 foot aluminum scooting along as fast as my 9.9 force( about 20 mph).and the reason i think this (you may be asking yourself) is that i test drove my buddys 9.9 evinrude (early 80,s)on my boat and i swear to god that my 9.9 force completely blew it away.hopefully my buddys 9.9 was just old and tired.......otherwise i think i may have just bought a 9.9 with a 15 horsepower sticker on it
