hey all. as a side note i have order a service manual over a week ago and it hasnt shown up yet, and I just want to see if you guys can give me some pointers to get me on the lake this weekend!

The control lever seems to have some "dead" play in it. From the top arrow to the start word it doesnt seem to move any linkage thats by the fly wheel.

Then at fast you can squeeze it down past fast adn the down arrow and the engine keeps reving up.

How do I go about adjusting this?

thanks,
shane

You can't. Just look at the tiller elbow joint and make sure the gears mesh as designed at that junction. You will see the wide tooth has to fit in the wide gap. The down side of that tiller design is excessive play and they are all like yours, some worse, some better but don't worry about it. Just back the gas off, put in neutral and then give it full gas. It will quit turning at the start position. Once started back off the gas and shift it into gear and it will then turn much further than it did in neutral. Further in forward than reverse. Best of luck. Rick.

Hey, thanks alot!

I was thinking that the gears along that bar look a little sloppy. will deal with it and try it out this weekend
