15 hp evenrude cuts off when slowing down

Yes I have a 1975 or 76 not sure of year but it is one of the two. My motor is having trouble starting sometimes and when I finally get it started when I put it into gear it cuts off. I have to throddle it up and put it into gear to get it to go and when I have it half throddle it wants to sputter and sometimes cuts off and when I get it full throddle it runs great but when I go to slow down as soon as I twist the throddle to slow down it immediately cuts off. I have already put it in the shop twice and have had the carburator rebuilt, new spark plugs, and a new gas line and fuel tank and the problem is still there. I would greatly appreciate your help.

I'm not an expert, but my guess is that people here are going to tell you to clean the carb. Sounds like it's not getting enough fuel.<br /><br />Did it run ok after you got it back from the shop? Maybe your mixture is wrong. You should be using 50:1. How do the plugs look?

no it did the same thing after I got it out of the shop. I also tried a new fuel line.

I would check two things first. Do a sync and link to be sure your ignition system is set for proper spark advance and look at the slow speed idle circuit of the carb.

The shop didn't charge you for the repair, did they? ...is there another shop near by?
