I have a 1977 15 HP Johnny that I just put together. It's running fine but I want to torque the head to the correct specs. Can anyone tell me what I should torque the head to? I can't seem to find the specs in the shop manual.
Stalker

Hi NS! I can't go back to a 77 but my shop manual says for a 15 hp(it's 1990 to 1995) that the torque is 18-20 ft lb. Probably will not differ to much but I thought I would let you know.

As I said in an earlier post, when working on these aluminum engines. A torgue wrench measured in inch/lbs. is much the better choice. A ft./lbs. wrench is just not sensitive enough at these low figures. You need ft./lbs. for the flywheel, and thats about it.

18 to 20 Ft./lbs would translate to how many inch/pounds about 118?
Stalker
