Went and rebuilt the carb as suggested. Have one slight problem. Gas is leaking out a small weep hole on the side of the carb. Can someone tell this very bad mechanic what hre did wrong?

The float level may be set too high. Was there a gauge for setting level included with the carb kit? If not, you can try carefully bending metal float arm down a little to lower fuel level in the bowl. Be careful not to force needle valve into the seat and harm it. Good luck.

101waterways
When turn carb upside down float should be level with the top plate. Also make sure float floats and does not hit the sides of bowl.

With the bowel removed, manipulate the float to confirm that the needle is seating. Sounds very much like needle cannot be seating else,... the seat is loose/leaking.

Good Luck
HAVE FUN
