With the throttle wide open the rpm's periodically drop by as much as 50%. It does not die just slows way down. If you slow to an idle for a minute you can take off again for while untill the same thing happens again, usually within 5 minutes or so if running at full throttle????

Look at your fuel delivery system, hoses, fuel connectors and make sure every thing is tight and leak free, if fuel can get out, air can get in. Could be time to rebuild the fuel pump also.

Is your fuel tank vent is open?

Re: 15 hp outboard gamefisher

The vent was open bt not all the way. going to try again this weekend with it wide open. Also I have alot of extra fuel hose coiled around the handle of the tank. Maybe straighten it out?? I put in new plugs for the heck of it. I pulled out the fuel pick up on the tank and the screen looked clean. The inside of the tank looked clean, no rust. I would like change the in-line fuel filter but the owners manuel does not show it. Also it looks like I'd have to dissassemble alot of the motor to remove the lower section of the motor cover to be able get at the fuel filters. Any comments?
