Think it would be OK to use a 15 pitch prop on this 16' aluminum bass boat? Original was 12 pitch. Thanks!

It will work to a point.
If the boat was set up for the 50 with a 12p then it's not gonna handle the same and it's gonna use more fuel.
Possibly a LOT more.
3 pitches is a big jump on a 50.

Put it on and get a tach and check the performance.
It should run about 5200-5400rpm at wot.
Post your results.

I havent bought it... your advice is good enough for me... I will keep looking for a 12P. Seems a little hard to find though. Any ideas where I can find the 10 x 12P?

Thanks!

ebay has some good deals. dont go 15. i have a 50 hp. is yours a big hub exaust thru or a small pin drive no exaust thru? as mine with a 11 1/2 gets 26mph with a 12 gets 24mph and a 13 slows me to 21. if i went 15 ide be lugging bad. i got a NEW 14 tooth pin drive off ebay michigan match for $50. there $145ish new.

does it look like this?

Depending on how bad it is.You might be able to get it rebuilt.
Try at the local marinas or dealers.
Look up prop repair on google.

The props can be bought at Mercury dealers too and on this site(I believe).

It does look very similar to the pic from catfish. It is not a exhaust thru design. I think I will continue to seek a 12P from what I have read here. Thanks to all responses. Great advice!
