150 efi idling problem

i recently bought 1996 outrage 17 with a 1999 merc 150 efi . the engine was checked by a mechnic and the compression was fine. when idling it runs very unsmooth and so with greater rpm, as if not all the cillinders are working . the mechenic says that this is the way this type of engine works but i am suspicious can someone help me ?

I believe their was a service bulletin issued by Mercury concerning the spark plugs on those efi motors... Not sure, but something I would check into.. <br /><br />You might also check NGK's web site and see what plugs they recomend and compare them with what's installed on your engine.. http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/
