so I have the BRP factory rebuild kits.... I know they put several gaskets you wont use in so the kit fits a wider range and years of motors. but usually its a CHOICE...but there is a small plastic ring (white) gasket that I am thinking goes under the needle seat...but when I took 6, 150 hop carbs apart as well as 6, 175 hp carbs apart( for their straight bowls)...none has that gasket under the seat......I am guessing as long as the float is adjusted....it shouldn't matter.....do you guys install that gasket???

also when I took the bowls off the carbs the 150s had a different brass plug that closes the high speed orifice opening in the bowls, than the 175hp's....

unfortunately..i cant remember which was which...does it matter and why are they different.

. ok so moving on, I was lucky enough on the second to the last carb kit...to get this gem....

wonder if they sell just that gasket...or am I fighting the seller for a whole new kit??

also again...I turned the idle needles in before I pulled them to see what the motor was set at....8 turns,...all 6 carbs.....factory manual says the starting setting is 5 turns out.....now this motor was running good...although an oily mess from leaky carbs....

I set the idles at 6 turns out as a compromise......does anyone thin 8 turns out is a lot??...should I be worried about a lot of carbon???

Bob.......No gasket under needles on a 60degree, the brass plug with dimple is to keep high speed jet from backing out, you can get gasket separate and 8 turns is ok as needle threads are so fine as 2 turns is about 1 jet size.
