150 hp vro Tilt Question?

I am having a serious trimming problem. When I throttle up. My tilt starts to drop and never lets me plane out my boat at all. I have a 1986 Winner 18' center console. I replaced the tilt unit and it does the same thing as the old one. All appears fine. But I'll be darned if I can figure this out at all. I talked with a friend and he told me about a voltage regulator that could be the cause. Any thoughts? I am really bummed and stumped

trim & tilt is a hydrolic system, the electric motor, pumps fluid. if the motor runs, it has nothing to do with electrical. you either have a bad seal, or low fluid. do you have an OEM service manual????

Gizzy, Normally when you want to plane out the boat, you trim in. After on plane, you can trim out. If your trim is dropping, it would help you get on plane. Obviously something is not being described correctly.

You might post additional details.

Thanks for replying. I understand what both are saying. Yes on the seals and so on. It all seems fine. I replaced the tilt in the winter and recently I took out the boat twice. The first time my newer tilt did the same thing. Wasn't sure on why. We checked the hydraulics and so on and seems all fine. So I changed the tabs around and still I was having the motor drop. I was at West Marine were a few of my buddies work and the one is a mechanic and told me it's maybe a relay switch. So I have one on order. Checked the Evinrude web-site for parts and seen there is a relay for the tilt. In the meantime I keep looking for it and cannot find it anywhere. I don't know were to look now. What I was told is when you throttle up that it can cause the motor to lower. Have you guys ever heard of this one? Also back to a question about planning out. My boat before planed when the tilt was upward and then as I planed off I'd lower the tilt gradually. That's how I'd get it on plane. Now I am really confused here. Any other ideas?

either you're doing it backwards or I am.
Start out with the trim down.
