150 MERC TEMP GUAGE?

I am tring to istall a temp guage on my merc 150 (2003)and am confused as to where the sending unit goes. I believe that it is threaded directly on to the head port side but the units diagram shows it actually penetrating the block. Am I correct in assuming that the unit just screws in metal to metal??? Thanks for any help

What brand is the gauge and sensor?

I don't recall working with that one, but I know the Merc gauge kit has a plate, plug and sensore that mount in the cylinder head. Have you contacted Teleflex to find out what their sensor requires? That might be your best bet.<br /><br />Good Luck!
