2007 Optimax 150
On weekend noticed a slight click while on plane coming from engine, about every 1-2 seconds. Thought I'll check it out this week..... all of a sudden the click becomes a clunk clunk clunk maybe 10 clunks per second.....throttled right off, put in neutral and no clunking, reved out of gear to 1500rmp no clunk, put in gear and above 1500 rmp clunk is back. Limp back to the launch.
With the boat out of the water I spun the prop and fine, put in gear (engine off) and turned the prop and clunk clunk and the shaft turns, when I reverse the turning of the prop its solid.
Would it be that pinion gear? or possibly the shift linkage not meshing? I'm going to check the leg oil to look for metallic fines..... Ideas?
