At about what temp do the head temp sensors start killing cylinders?

What should the normal engine temp be?

Re: 150 Temp ?

someplace about 200* and reset at about 180* normal temp is around 150* when running with a load and about 125-140 idleing.
the ECU causes the misfire not the temp switches, the ECU also sets RPM reduction and the audible as well as overheat visual indicates.

Re: 150 Temp ?

This one is dropping cylinders and sounding the alarm at about 145 running under a load. Temp checked with an infrared thermometer at temp sensor and the top of the head. Idle back and engine cools to the mid 120's. Port head seems to be running about 10+/- degrees hotter than starboard head (at sensors). If I disconnect the port sensor it runs in the mid 150's.

Sounds like a bad sensor. Do you see these fail like this often?

Thanks rodbolt ;)

Re: 150 Temp ?

occasionally, switch the switch location and see if the symptoms change.
as the temp switches are located at a blind pasage occasionally it will scale up and start giving false overheatsdue to the switch location cant stay cool.
