Clutch Dogs are they hard to replace?

I belive I can hear mine. I have twins - 1995 150 loopers. (Twin daughters too...) While on a plane ~ 30 mph if I have the throttle slightly lower on the starboard motor I can hear a rattle from the engine.

Is this normal or should I consider replacement during next years off season? 600 hrs on motor.

Bad dogs usually try to jump out of gear.

I've heard of some Mercs doing a chatter at times, when using stainless props.

DHP

These are Johnsons, SS props, dont remember the pitch. Stays in gear fine and shifts smoothly forward and reverse.

Just want to make sure if they're going I baby them. Is chatter bad?

Chatter is bad, no matter where it comes from! The fist thing, do a shift sync with the proper manual. That problem will only get worse till corrected.
