I have a 1985? 150hp Mariner with SN OB150454. I've done a few test such as, Check the resistance across the two yellow wires from the stator - 0 ohms. Test the voltage on the batteries - 12.5 volts at idle and at higher rpm with no change. I believe I've narrowed down my problem to the rectifier, but I may be mistaken? The only problem is I CAN NOT find it for the life of me. The part I purchashed from West Marine is made by Sierra (PN:18-5707). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

If you don't have continuity through the 2 yellow wires on the stator the winding is open and it will not work.

0 ohms is continuity. Actual resistance is a fraction of 1 ohm, so it shows up as 0 with a cheap digital meter.

NavDiver, I don't understand what you mean by you cannot find it.

If you mean you can't find a replacement rectifier, you can always retrofit a standard 20 amp or higher, 200 volt or higher bridge rectifier.

here's a picture.
hope it helps
John

J martin, What I meant by not being able to find it is...Not being able to locate the rectifier on the motor. It should be bolted to the block somewhere correct for grounding purposes? I have a rectifier that I purchased from West Marine, but I can't find it on the motor...It has to be hidden somewhere. The elusive rectifier has me chasing my tail.

How did you test the 2 yellow wires from the stator? They are connected to the AC terminals on the rectifier.

It should be mounted on the switchbox mounting plate, starboard side, slightly aft.

hope it helps
