I understand what you are saying and your 100%right.When i get a few extra bucks i am gonna buy a tiny tach. Also if i go to a 10.5 pitch the motor will be under the max 5500rpm for sure. The bigger the pitch the lower the rpms it will go the faster the boat. The hole shot might lack just slightly, may not even feel it because it is a 2stroke and has alot more power then a 4stroke wll.I should gain at least a few mph or more depending on the conditions.Right now i will break it in with the factory prop.

The whole reed valve was changed. It's a $75 part from yamaha.I went over the 9.9 and 15 with my marina part for part as well as a yamaha rep on the phone and every single part number was identical on both the 9.9 and 15 except the reed valves that sit behind the carb.Actually they are the same part, but the new reed valves are open all the way so it can't restrict the air flow.

Do you have a link for this part?

2 stroke maintenance is almost nothing compared to a 4 stroke. A carbed 4 stroke while very clean is not as clean as
the direct injected Evinrude Etec.
I believe there is a Etec 15 based on the 25.But I think the 25 makes more sense.
Both have no break in,no service for 3 years or 300 hours.I think the manual start is 147 lbs.

Decee i just moved from my house and everything is in storage.I have the box and original reed valve. The only different is the air flow.I mean it's the same part besides the valve being slightly opened more and yes anyone can say there is no difference in a 9.9 and 15 but i have seen the difference in mainly power compared to overall top speed. The top end is close to 4mph difference which is some difference. All you have to do is find any yamaha dealer and they can get it for you or even put it in for you.I didn't realize how easy it was to pop in and out or i would of done it myself.Well worth the $75.
