Hey all dumb question. I have a 1974 15hp evinrude ,model 15505c. runs great but had a water leak at t-stat housing. pulled cover off, no t-stat at all. installed new t-stat o-ring and gasket. now have no leak but is there a tell tale with this motor and how do I know if there is water flowing.

Tuhuna.... Your engine is not a 1974, the model number of 15505 indicates it is a 1975 15hp Evinrude. That model has no water outlet telltale. Water will exit from the holes/slots that exist at the top rear section of the exhaust housing just below the hood pan.

Hi tunhuna<br />I don't remember if your model has one. Some don't (tell tale indecater). No worry just look at the exhaust relief port, about half way down, on the backside of the leg. You should see water spraying out there. This will be intermittent with your new t-stat. To check for over heat, drizzle a little water over the head and cylender area. If it sizzles, it's to hot. If it just pudles, and dries slowly, your good to go.
