In the owners manual for my old 15 horse Johnson the booklet says it is ok to use Dexeron as a lower unit
lube. Now that would make a less exspensive lubricant than the Johnson product. Some thoughts on this

I use ATF Dexrom III in my TNT, not gearcase though.

It does not have additives to protect against water intrusion.

Doesn't it say to use that if the correct lube isn't available? That motor doesn't hold enough oil to pay to quibble over price.
