i recently purchased a 16 carolina skiff it ran fine first three times i put in .all with in a week . third time i put in stopped getting on plane at full throttle .thought prop might be bad so changed and still doesnt palne wide open .while checking motor for issues noticed to spots where there where cracks in the hull .one looks to be batched with gel the other with jb weld .will this cause leaks and extra weight in hull and if so how do you fix?

How about some pictures. If hull problems are your loss of performance, you have some serious problems. Probably something else like bad fuel, contaminated carbs and all that.

Although the hull problems might be something to address, if it worked the first three times and you didn't change anything then that's not your problem. I'd bet it's something with your engine.

Do you keep your boat slipped or tied to a dock, or do you pull it out of the water after every use (trailered)?

Did the motor come with the boat? Had the boat been setting up before you bought it?

need to know more about the motor. I bet you are dropping a cylinder. Or are you getting high RPM without power? that's a spun prop.

you need to get an experienced boater or mechanic to ride with you. A carolina skiff is practically on a plane when it's sitting still.
