Thanks for the complements Fauxmeister...she is starting to come together.
Skinny Chicken I think we would have to do some work on that manufacturer's tag...."maximum rated horsepower 135....scratch.....300". I'm not to sure the OHP would be too keen on that even if my cousin is a trooper!
I'm back to the gas tank debate....If I put one up front, no room for the skis, which is sort of the point of the boat. The removable tanks fit in the back sort of...but not really. The boat was laid out for the older steel tanks that were taller..with a smaller footprint. I could go with the built in tank in the back, which fits....sort of about like the removable tanks. The advantage to it is that I could build a cover and forget it. The removable tanks will require access. So it is making more since to me to go with a permanent tank in the back. Make sense to anyone else? I'd like to move the weight up front, but that kills my storage.

I could get a spun aluminum one and just mount it to the bow!

Arc- I love the trailer. Fenders look great! Finally it's done so I can't question it anymore:D However, I'd be worried about bumping into one of those pretty bumpers while loading the boat:eek: You are an experienced boater though so you shouldn't have to worry to much about that.

As far as the gas tank(s) go. You have to go with what meets your needs. So if you want to use the front for ski storage then put the gas tanks in the back. If you are worried about weight distribution you could always add a sand bag or two up front later on. I would look for a permanent gas tank though for the stern so You don't have to be moving seats all the time when you need to fill up.

Thanks for the thoughts Mick...I'm not to worried about the weight, after all if you have two guys up front you are looking at 400 or more. It would just come out of the hole faster if I had more of the weight up front. Guess I will have to move the ice chest up there huh? LOL!

Hey arch,
It sounds like the best option now is the permanent tank in the back.
Got any new pic's. :D

I guess I should have went back to the previous page. the trailer looks great. It is hard to believe that, that is the same trailer.
once again great Job.

Well I think I finally found a tank that will fit in the back today. David K came over and we brainstormed...he found one in a cataloge that I hadn't considered. Nice to have a fresh set of eyes. We have been busy at work, and I have spent a lot of time at OU critiquing senior projects......Its actually a lot of fun looking at student work....sometimes I even learn something new! Hopefully the rub rail will come in Thursday....that is starting to hold things up! If it does, Max should be on the back of Miss Morgan by this time next week! :D

Nice Arch! What are you using to fasten the rubrail to Miss Morgan? Rivets? Size? Type? I need to order mine soon- just not sure on the size yet?

It had 1/8th inch when I took it off. David K thinks I should use screws. I'm not sure which direction I'm going yet. I think it says something about being drilled for #8. More money to Ace!

Ha- I keep ace in business here too! Haven't you read on here about screws backing out over time? Maybe that's just cap to hull with the screws backing out? I gotta look back at my pics- I don't remember if the rubrail rivets held the top on too or if there were rivets under the rubrail also:eek: Guess I gotta look back on that.

You'll be happy when Max is on huh;)

Aluminum on the rivets.....stainless rivets don't work well unless you have a pneumatic puller. I broke a hand riveter on stainless once! I will go with stainless screws if I go that route. Since my rub rail is stainless, that makes the most since. I haven't looked it up, but I think you will get a little corrosion between aluminum and stainless from electron swapping.

Hey Arch,
Sounds like your still moving along.
My rub rail was put on with screws only, None of the screws had backed out when I took it apart. I hate to drill out rivets. I would rather use a screw driver. :p

I don't mind drilling pop rivets.... I just hate drilling Huck rivets.....used to spend hours and hours drilling those hard *** things out!

I made a cardboard box the size of the fuel tank tonight. Looks like it fits pretty good, so I just need to get it ordered. I hope the rub rail comes in tomorrow! I can't wait to get it on!

Hey Arch,

If you?re like me at all that will be a good excuse to pick up a fun tool you will only use in clutch situations such as this! I?ve already thought about a pneumatic pop gun for replacing my cap. I?ve tried the SS rivets in a good hand pop gun and it was a process. I?ll probably just get a Chinese HF one; although it does pain me to purchase such a thing...I just won?t use it enough to justify a quality piece.

Hey arch
Just wanted to say nice work on the trailer and boat
why not put the fuel tank up front am i missing something?
what if you go out alone with no ice chest?
the weight of the fuel might help stop porpoising if that happens you will need trim tabs to take that away. you can also trim the engine but that cuts efficiency.
should give you better hole shot for picking up skiers too
also suggest stainless steel prop they hold up better at high speed
as far as the horn goes it might be part of the regulations in your area to have one.
have a great time this summer!

I'm ready for some pics with the black merc on the back!!! :)
This is what I hate about long-term projects........I'm not a patient person!:D
The trailer is really nice, too. Looks better than factory.
