I bought this boat a few month back and everytime I take it out water gets into the subhull under the deck. I found that whoever mounted the Captains chair they used too long of screws which 3 went all the way through and out the bottom.....bummer..... they tried to patch with 5200 and painted.
Anyway if I grind the screw into the bottom of the hull and fill it with Marine tex would it hold?
Would it be better to glass over the holes?
Your thoughts.
Thanks

as long as that bolt is in the hole, it's going to vibirate, and break your seal.

Hopefully you have removed the screws and replaced them with shorter ones. As long as that screw is in the hull, I think it will create problems. Once it is removed, then the fix is simple, the right way is to grind, glass and refinish or a quick just use the Marine Tex or 5200. My boat had the same thing but with floor screws that the previous owner had butchered up. Since I removed the floor, I ground out around the holes and reglassed.

Good luck,

Rob.
