I picked up a 16ft 85' alumacraft aluminum fishin boat couple months back really cheap and after having it on the water I've got an idea why got it so cheap...

I've searched looking for a "how to" transom repair guide specific to or at least similar to this boat and haven't found much to help me. I know I'm not only person that's had rotted transom in one of these boats by a long shot, can anyone point me in right direction as far as disassembling all the riveted aluminum covers/pieces? I'm not exactly sure what all has to be removed in order to actually get the transom out. any words of wisdom would be much appreciated guys! I'll get some pics up showin exactly what I'm dealing with shortly

You need to either chisel, grind or drill the rivets out

I normally smack the center of the rivet with a nail set and hammer, then I drill the head off the rivet. After that it should pop right out. As Scott said, grinding works, but I dont trust myself with a grinder that much..........
