Hi guys. Been on here before with this. I have new cap, rotor, plugs, points condensor. I bvought a dwell meter and have it at 34 degrees. Point gap is .016 or so. Hard to tell with the spring action going on. The timing mark on the balancer is still down around the bottom of the crankmaybe like 100 degrees before tdc. This makes no sense to me. I had a drag car for a while and theoretically this thing shouldn't run and idle like it does. I never had the light on it before so I don't know if this just started or not. It idles very smooth. Rpm's come up great. I just don't want to get to the lake and have problems with it. I got it real hot last year and have been playing with it since. Carb rebuild, oil change, water pump, all of the above with the distributor. Doesn't shake or make any funny noises. Just looking for some input. Lets talk about it. Brian

Didn't you say in another post that the Balancer was rubbing the motor mount,..??

It sounds like it's Slipped,.... About 94?....

It does appear to be rubbing. What is the best way to hold up the front of the block to take the mount off. I do not have a hoist anymore. I wonder if the rubber on the balancer may have slipped. The balancer shouldn't have turned unless it slipped the key. Brian

Ayuh,.... That would be My Guess....

A Jack of some sort can be put under the oil pan to support the motor,...
Cushioning it with wood is a plus...

If I do find that it has slipped do I need a Mercruiser balancer or a chevy 250 six balancer.
