165 mercruiser to v8 conversion

i have a 1975 reinell 22' cabin cruiser it has a 165 mercruiser in it the boat is in great shape fully restored and i own it no payments!! so my question is i want to put in a 350 i has manifolds for a 350 and bell housing and out drive what else would i need how would the front mounts mount on the boat being that it was set up for a inline 6 because i know reinell built these boat with v8s any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thank you sag7374@hotmail.com

More than likely, the L6 or V8 decision was made at time of construction(hull layup). As you pointed out, the inline engines have a front mount, while the V8s have side mounts.

You will need to add proper blocking to support the V8 mounts. This is a pretty serious project. Doable, but it is alot of work, especially considering you have a boat that is in good condition already.
