I live in florida and just got my first carolina skiff. Its 16ft and has 2 livewells already but i want to add on.

** I was thinking about making one of the livewells into a cooler? good or bad idea?

Also what do i need to solar power my batteries, they don't charge from running i have to plug them in and since I'm in the sunshine state i want take solar power them. what will i need? Or if you think its easier, what d i need to make it charge when it runs?

You can use a livewell as a cooler as is. Or if you are good at fixing stuff, pull it apart and add some insulation (old styro cooler) to the walls.

Your motor should recharge the battery. We need details to advise you why your motor isn't working as it should.

The general census around here is that solar panels can maintain a battery but not charge it.

Livewells can work good as coolers, but since they're not insulated, block ice or frozen 2 liter drink bottles will make the ice last longer. We use the frozen 2 liter bottles in a livewell for cokes/beer/shrimp bait, works great!

Well its a brand new boat 2005, and its not hooked up to recharge them. it has a regular outlet on the console to plug it in.
I was going to spray some insulating foam around and under it. and on the lid, also i have to plug the whole

**Also i was actually thinking about making both livewells into a cooler and storage and getting fiberglass work done. SOmeone told me that a lot of people put 2 livewells attached to the transom so there directly parralel with the motor.

is that a good idea?
